2. Saawariya

In Saawariya, the sets are inspired by paintings from Kashmir, Rajasthan, and even Van Gogh. Detailing is paramount in Bhansali’s movies, evident in the creation of elements such as boats, fog, snow, and white peacocks. Despite the seemingly
modest appearance, these props required a total budget of over Rs. 40 crore and took 25 days to complete, with over 250 people meticulously working to achieve the desired look.

3. Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela

Starring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela is another classic example of Bhansali’s exceptional craftsmanship. The film features grand havelis adorned with furniture from past decades and vibrant street scenes with intricate rangolis during Holi. Despite portraying the beauty of Gujarat, all of this was shot in Mumbai, showcasing Sanjay Leela’s ability to recreate authentic settings.

4. Gangubai Kathiawadi

The film depicts the struggle and acceptance of Gangubai, who was sold to a brothel. As the movie progresses, the setting changes to reflect Gangubai’s journey, with lighting enhancing as she finds acceptance within herself. The streets and songs seamlessly complement each other, contributing to the overall narrative.
